In “Letters to a Young Poet”, Ranier Maria Rilke wrote: “For one human being to love another: that is perhaps the most difficult of all our tasks, the ultimate, the last test and proof, the work for which all other work is but a preparation.”
I refuse to give into despair, to fear or to believe in apocalyptic visions of our future. I refuse to hate, even the haters. I cling to hope, to faith in mankind and the power of love. Though this may be a dark time for many of us, let us remember these beautiful words of Rilke, and dig deep within ourselves and find the capacity and strength to love and to heal.
