Dream big, as long as you do it in sync with your truth, with your heart, your brain. And you are not hurting anybody, go ahead and do it.
-Angelique Kidjo
I can’t believe it’s been five months since I’ve blogged! What have I been doing? Well, I took a much needed sabbatical, went inward, reevaluated some things, asked a lot of questions, and did a lot of exploring. It’s been amazing! One big change is that I’ve started going by my Hebrew name, Yael. As I write this, I am sitting in my apartment in Jerusalem, where I’ve spent the summer and where I’ve done a lot of my exploring. Wow, what a ride it’s been!
I love this quote by Angelique Kidjo, and I thought it would be the perfect way to jump back into the blogosphere. Kidjo, amazing activist and one of my all-time favorite singer-songwriters, powerfully explains the multi-faceted and sometimes complicated adventure of living one’s truth. It’s so easy to get sidetracked or confused or to go to an extreme. But, if we keep it simple—if we check in and make sure that we’ve got our bases covered—that we are reaching for the skies, checking our motivations, asking hard questions, thinking long and hard and feeling deeply, and checking in with our loved ones—then I think we’d all be a lot happier.
I am so glad you are back! I can’t wait to hear about the experiences you have had and what you have learned on your inward journey.
